The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open competitive computer-based examination for direct recruitment to Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted positions. The posts include Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, and Senior Translator for various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations within the Government of India.

Education Qualification

Essential Educational Qualifications (As of 25.08.2024):

  1. For Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator:
  • Master’s Degree in Hindi or English with the respective language as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination at the degree level; or
  • Master’s Degree in any subject with Hindi or English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination; and
  • Diploma/Certificate in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or 2 years of relevant experience.

2. For Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator:

    • Master’s Degree in Hindi or English with the respective language as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination at the degree level; or
    • Master’s Degree in any subject with Hindi or English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination; and
    • Diploma/Certificate in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or 3 years of relevant experience.

    Note:

    • Degrees/diplomas from Open and Distance Learning institutions are recognized if approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC.
    • Certain programs (e.g., engineering, medicine) are not allowed via Open and Distance Learning, with some exceptions.
    • Document Verification (DV) will occur post-results; candidates must present original certificates.
    • Candidates must meet the educational qualifications by the application closing date.

    Salary Details

    • Junior Translation Officer (JTO) in Central Secretariat Official Language Service (CSOLS)
      Pay Scale: Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400)
    • Junior Translation Officer (JTO) in Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ)
      Pay Scale: Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400)
    • Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) / Junior Translation Officer (JTO) / Junior Translator (JT) in various Central Government Ministries/Departments/Organizations
      Pay Scale: Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400)

      Pay Scale: Level-7 (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400)

    Age Limit

    • Maximum Age : 18 Years.
    • Maximum Age : 30 Years.
      Age relaxation is applicable according to the established guidelines

    Application Fee

    • General / OBC: ₹100
    • SC / ST / PH / Female: ₹0 (No fee)

    Fees can be paid via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or through E-Challan at State Bank of India.

    Mode of Selection

    1. Minimum Qualifying Marks:
      • UR: 30%
      • OBC/EWS: 25%
      • All Other Categories: 20%

      2. Selection Process:

        • Paper-I (Computer-Based Examination): Shortlisting for Paper-II based on marks.
        • Paper-II (Descriptive Paper): Final selection based on performance in both papers.

        3. Final Allocation:

          • Post and department allocation based on performance and candidate preferences.
          • Preferences are final and irreversible; once a post is allotted, no changes will be made.

          4. Reserved Categories:

            • Candidates selected on merit are placed in general vacancies; reserved vacancies are filled separately.
            • Candidates qualifying with relaxed standards are counted against reserved vacancies.

            5. Document Verification:

              • Required during the final result phase; original certificates must be presented.

              6. Probation and Training:

                • New appointees will undergo a two-year probation period and required training.

                7. All India Service Liability:

                  • Candidates may be posted anywhere in India and may need proficiency in the local language.

                  8. Other Notes

                  No waiting list or reserve list will be maintained.
                  Issues with examination stages or final selection should be reported within specified timeframes.

                  How to Apply

                  Application Submission:

                    • Apply online at SSC’s new website by 25.08.2024 (23:00 hours).
                    • Old One-Time Registrations (OTRs) on the previous site are no longer valid.

                    One-Time Registration (OTR):

                      • Create a new OTR on the updated website if not done previously. This OTR will be valid for future applications.

                      Photograph Requirements:

                        • Capture a new photograph as prompted during application; do not use pre-existing photos.
                        • Ensure good lighting, a plain background, and that the face is fully visible without any accessories.
                        • The photo must be clear and in accordance with the given instructions to avoid rejection.

                        Signature Upload:

                          • Upload a scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10 to 20 KB), with dimensions approximately 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm.

                          Submission Tips:

                            • Submit applications early to avoid last-minute issues.
                            • Verify all application details and ensure the photograph and signature meet the requirements.
                            • Keep a copy of the submitted application.

                            Incomplete Applications:

                              • Applications with incomplete or incorrect details will be rejected. Ensure all sections are properly filled out before submission.
