Age Limit
- Indian Military Academy (IMA):
- Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2007 are eligible.
- Indian Naval Academy (INA):
- Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2007 are eligible.
- Air Force Academy (AFA):
- Age between 20 to 24 years as of 1st January 2026 (born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2006).
- For candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India), the upper age limit is relaxable up to 26 years (born between 2nd January 2000 and 1st January 2006).
- Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Married candidates above 25 years are eligible but will not be provided married accommodation during training.
- Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men):
- Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2001 and 1st January 2007 are eligible.
- Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course):
- Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (with divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible.
- Women candidates should be born between 2nd January 2001 and 1st January 2007.
Note:
- Male divorcees/widowers are not considered unmarried and are not eligible for IMA/INA/AFA/OTA Chennai courses.

Educational Qualifications
- Indian Military Academy (IMA) & Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai:
- A degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Indian Naval Academy:
- A degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
- Air Force Academy:
- A degree from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level) or a Bachelor of Engineering.
- Final Year Students:
- Candidates in the final year of their degree course can apply, provided they have no backlogs. Proof of passing the degree exam must be submitted by specific dates (IMA/Indian Naval Academy: 1st January 2026; Air Force Academy: 13th November 2025; OTA: 1st April 2026).
- Other Qualifications:
- Candidates with professional/technical qualifications recognized by the government as equivalent to the required degrees are also eligible.
- Exceptional cases may allow candidates without prescribed qualifications if their qualifications meet the standard in the Commission’s opinion.
- Important Notes:
- Final-year candidates must submit a bonafide certificate during the SSB interview stating they will provide proof of graduation by the required date.
- Candidates debarred by the Ministry of Defence are ineligible to apply.
- Air Force candidates suspended from flying training may be reassigned to other roles in the IAF if vacancies are available.
Salary details
The monthly salary for officers in the Army, Air Force, or Navy ranges approximately from ₹80,000 to ₹1,20,000. This variation depends on several factors, including the branch of the armed forces (Army, Air Force, or Navy), the specific posting location, and the nature of the officer’s duties. Salaries may be influenced by factors such as rank, allowances, and additional compensations specific to the posting and work responsibilities.
Application Fee
- Fee for Candidates: Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only).
- Payment Methods: Cash at SBI Branch, Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment, or Internet Banking.
- Exemption: Female, SC, and ST candidates are exempt from the fee.
- Payment Notes:
- Pay by Cash: Fee can be paid at the SBI counter the next working day after generating the pay-in-slip. “Pay by Cash” will be deactivated by 11:59 PM on 30th December 2024.
- Payment through any other mode is not accepted. Applications without the correct fee or mode will be rejected.
- Refund: The fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to any future exams.
- Payment Issues: If payment details are not received, the application will be rejected. Applicants can submit proof of payment within 10 days if required.
How to Apply
- Online Application: Candidates must apply online through upsconline.gov.in. All required documents (e.g., age, educational qualifications) must be submitted along with the application.
- Registration: One-time registration is required. If already registered, candidates can directly apply for the exam.
- Modification:
- Profile Change: Can be modified only once after registration, until 07.01.2025.
- Application Form Change: Corrections allowed from 01.01.2025 to 07.01.2025.
- No Withdrawal: Applications cannot be withdrawn once submitted.
- Fee: Applications without the prescribed fee will be rejected.
- Documents Required: Candidates must have original Matriculation and Degree/Provisional Degree Certificates ready for the SSB interview.
- Important Notes:
- Candidates serving in government or the armed forces must inform their departments.
- False information may lead to disqualification.
- Unfair means during the exam may result in immediate disqualification.
